And what does it mean for people hoping to influence them?

As social media has grown in importance as a communications channel for politicians, so has the focus amongst Public Affairs professionals on how it can be used to engage and influence them. To shine light on this area, Grayling has partnered with social media intelligence firm Linkfluence to analyse the social media activity of members of Parliament across 17 European countries, as well as the European Parliament. For the first time on a Europe-wide scale, it allows us to reveal the impact of geography, gender, age and political alignment on the social media communications of MPs.

Ben will reveal the results for the Czech Republic, compare and contrast the Czech Republic with other European countries, and explore what the research means for those seeking to influence policy-makers.

As well as presenting the results of the research, Ben will consider:
► How to build digital / social media communications into effective advocacy campaigns
► How to get politicians’ attention online
► The internal challenges that can make digital advocacy challenging, particularly in big companies – and how to overcome them
